About The Position

The Robot Welder Operator is responsible for the layout, fitting, setting up, and operation of the robotic welding systems specified by the blueprints and work orders. This role involves identifying and resolving issues in robotic systems, installing, operating, and maintaining robots and associated equipment, and ensuring that welds meet engineering specifications. The operator will also perform preventive maintenance, maintain service records, and ensure program backups are completed. A key aspect of the role is verifying that finished work conforms to standards and maintaining a safe and positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical repair, computer programming, and electric circuit design.
  • Basic understanding of programming code used to control devices.
  • Thorough understanding of diagnostic and repair tools including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers and electronics schematics.
  • Thorough understanding of theoretical approaches to robotics engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete logs and reports.
  • Time management skills.
  • Safety is top priority.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years manufacturing experience.
  • Three (3) years programming and operation of robotic welders and plasma cutting equipment.
  • Previous CNC Robotic welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Layout, fitting, setting up, and operation of robotic welding systems according to blueprints and work orders.
  • Identifying problems and issues in robotic systems and communicating with programmers and specialists to diagnose and understand issues.
  • Installing programs, operating, and maintaining robots and equipment such as controllers, end-of-arm tooling, and conveyors.
  • Training other robot operators at management's discretion.
  • Ensuring programs and revisions are maintained and all work instructions are followed as stated in ISO documentation.
  • Reviewing data sheets daily to identify missed welds, configuration errors, and poor welds, and resolving them by updating programs.
  • Ensuring welds meet specifications designed by engineering, and that weld patterns are correct and optimized.
  • Ensuring data sheets are turned in as required or notifying the supervisor for assistance.
  • Ensuring all programs are backed up per the work instruction.
  • Performing operator preventive and curative maintenance on robotic systems and components.
  • Maintaining service records for automated production systems and robotic equipment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Verification that finished work is in conformance.
  • Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a cohesive manner with management and peers.
  • Working in a safe manner and maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
