About The Position

The Robot Welder Operator is responsible for the layout, fitting, setting up, and operation of the robotic welding systems specified by the blueprints and work orders. This role involves identifying and resolving issues in robotic systems, installing and maintaining robots and associated equipment, and ensuring programs and work instructions are followed according to ISO documentation. The operator will also review data sheets to identify and correct weld issues, ensure welds meet engineering specifications, and maintain service records for automated production systems.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical repair, computer programming, and electric circuit design.
  • Basic understanding of programming code used to control devices.
  • Thorough understanding of diagnostic and repair tools including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers and electronics schematics.
  • Thorough understanding of theoretical approaches to robotics engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete logs and reports.
  • Time management.
  • Safety is top priority.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years manufacturing experience, and three (3) years programming and operation of robotic welders and plasma cutting equipment
  • Previous CNC Robotic welding experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Identifies problems and issues in robotic systems, communicating with robotics programmers, specialists, or other staff to diagnose and understand issues.
  • Installs programs, operates and maintains robots and equipment such as controllers, end-of-arm tooling, and conveyors.
  • Trains other robot operators at management's discretion.
  • Ensures programs and revisions are maintained, and all work instructions are followed, as stated in the ISO documentation.
  • Reviews data sheets each day to identify missed welds, configuration errors, and poor welds, and resolves them by updating programs.
  • Ensures welds meet the specifications designed by engineering, and weld patterns are correct and optimized.
  • Ensures data sheets are turned in as required or notifies the supervisor for assistance.
  • Ensures all programs are backed up per the work instruction.
  • Performs operator preventive and curative maintenance on robotic systems and components.
  • Maintains service records for automated production systems and robotic equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Verifies that finished work is in conformance.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a cohesive manner with management and peers.
  • Works in a safe manner and maintains a safe work environment at all times.
