About The Position

The Robot Technician will be responsible for performing various tasks related to robotic welding cells. This includes cut and etch, shimming weld tooling, understanding blueprints, building and disassembling weld cells, basic pneumatic skills, basic machining, MIG welding, adjusting sensors, touching up robot types, basic robot programming, reading weld prints, and understanding HMI and PLC interactions. The role also involves basic troubleshooting of robot and electrical issues, and the capability to travel to customer sites for installations and issue resolution without supervision. The technician will also be responsible for programming material handling and spot-welding robots, shimming tools to customer gages, interpreting CMM data, and maintaining a skills inventory score indicative of a Level II or higher technician. A willingness to travel up to 40% of the time is required.

Requirements

High school or GED
Vocational High School or Technical College or Equivalent Experience
2-3 years’ workable experience as a Robot Technician
RIA certified (Basic robot technician)
Intermediate robot knowledge of 1 type of robot and at least 1 type of welder. (Lincoln Power supply recommended)
Basic understanding of mechanical components (metric and standard fasteners, socket head cap screws, button head, hex head, flat head and dowel pins)
Basic understanding of electrical components, basic use of a volt meter to check for AC voltage and DC voltage

Perform cut & etch on welded parts
Shim weld tooling
Understanding blueprint/assembly print reading
Building and disassemble weld cells
Basic Pneumatic skills
Basic Machining
MIG welding
Adjusting sensors (advance and retract based on HMI)
Touching up 1 to 2 Robot types
Basic Robot programming
Reading weld prints
Basic understanding of HMI and PLC interaction with robots and cell functions
Basic troubleshooting skills for robot issues and electrical issues (wire stick, minor alarms, blown fuses and sensor issues on tooling)
Capable sending individuals on the road to finish open issue lists and install tooling changes using prints and work together with controls group to finish jobs abroad without supervision
Basic programming of material handling and spot-welding robots using grippers and spot guns
Capable of shimming tools to customer gages and can interpret CMM data to make adjustments to tooling
Maintain a skills inventory score indicative of a level II or higher technician
Willing to travel up to 40% of the time to customer sites
Maintain a skills inventory score indicative of a level I or higher technician
