About The Position

We are seeking a Robot Assembly Technician to join our Manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating engineering intent into a physical robot by building precision mechanical subassemblies that meet exacting tolerances. Your craftsmanship is crucial for ensuring NEO robots perform safely and reliably in the real world. This position is critical to 1X's mission of creating an abundant supply of physical labor through safe, intelligent humanoids. You will contribute to building robots that are safe enough to live with families and are being shipped to customers. The ideal candidate will have a craftsmanship mindset, strong manual dexterity, the ability to read engineering drawings, and a quality-first instinct. This role requires reliability, accountability, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments (calipers, torque wrenches, gauges).
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform sustained hands-on, physical work throughout a shift.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assembling robotics, aerospace, medical device, or other precision mechanical products.
  • Familiarity with ESD procedures and controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with high-mix, low-volume or early-stage production environments where processes are still being refined.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Build precision mechanical subassemblies that meet exacting tolerances.
  • Ensure NEO robots move, learn, and operate safely.
  • Consistently meet daily and weekly production output targets without compromising on quality or safety standards.
  • Deliver subassemblies that pass first-time inspection, minimizing rework and downstream defects.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and proper torque specifications across every assembly.
  • Identify and escalate process issues, tooling problems, or recurring defects.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work area that meets ESD and manufacturing standards every shift.
