About The Position

Tieto Tech Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Roaming Business Expert to join a project within their Telecom Team, working for their client BICS. BICS is a global telecommunication enabler with a worldwide physical network. The role involves growing expertise by interacting with A-level mobile carriers globally and engaging with a vast network including on-land, underwater, and space points of presence. Tieto has a decade-long partnership with BICS, offering confidence in future and long-term growth. The expert will develop telecom expertise across a diverse portfolio of BICS products, including Voice, Cloud, Signaling, LTE, and IoT, and will benefit from unmatched growth opportunities with BICS's extensive network and global customer base. The Roaming Business Expert is responsible for representing the commercial interests of a designated customer in all roaming-related negotiations with international mobile network operators (MNOs). This involves ensuring Inter-Operator Tariff (IOT) agreements align with the customer’s strategic goals and budget expectations, while maintaining strong industry relationships and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Telecommunications, or related field
  • 3–7 years of experience in roaming, wholesale, or telecom commercial roles
  • Experience negotiating IOT agreements or managing roaming partnerships
  • Fluency in verbal and spoken English

Responsibilities

  • Act as the commercial voice of the customer in all IOT negotiations, ensuring their strategic and financial objectives are met.
  • Translate customer P&L targets into negotiation strategies and commercial outcomes.
  • Lead bilateral and multilateral negotiations with roaming partners and groups to secure optimal IOT terms.
  • Ensure contracts reflect agreed commercial conditions and are aligned with GSMA standards and RAEX processes.
  • Monitor contract lifecycle and proactively manage renewals and amendments.
  • Perform regular reconciliations between operational and financial data (e.g., invoices, payments, service delivery, usage reports).
  • Validate and process settlement reports, ensuring accuracy of financial postings and balances.
  • Perform Monthly Accruals for discounted commercial deals.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial closing activities, ensuring all settlements are captured and accrued correctly.
  • Analyse roaming traffic, cost trends, and partner performance to identify negotiation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with finance, pricing, and analytics teams to model commercial scenarios and assess impact on customer P&L.
  • Support the development of roaming pricing strategies and discount frameworks.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., finance, legal, operations) and external roaming partners.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to the customer on negotiation progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive benchmarks.
  • Ensure all agreements comply with GSMA guidelines, roaming regulations, and internal governance.
