About The Position

H&H is seeking a team-focused, dynamic, innovative, and results-oriented Mid-Level Roadway/Transportation Engineer to join its Highway Group in Portland, Maine. The role offers the opportunity to apply technical expertise, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support delivery of transportation projects for a diverse range of clients. The successful candidate will contribute to roadway design, project engineering, client coordination, and the development of less experienced engineers. The firm delivers solutions spanning planning and design through construction and is privately owned.

Requirements

Five to fifteen years of relevant highway, interchange, and roadway design experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Familiarity with Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) design standards.
Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage small design groups and projects.

Drainage design experience.

Responsibilities

Produce roadway and transportation designs for new and rehabilitation roadway projects.
Attend client project meetings, participate in proposals and presentations, manage project tasks and projects, and meet with regulatory agencies.
Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members of the design team.
Manage, train, and mentor less experienced engineers in producing plans, specifications, and estimates.
Perform project engineering responsibilities related to communication, scheduling, budget, and progress across multiple concurrent tasks.
Assist with local marketing efforts, including proposal preparation, professional chapter meetings, and municipal functions and meetings.
