About The Position

AECOM's Transportation business line partners with clients to build, modernize, and expand transportation projects. They use extensive knowledge in planning, designing, and managing transportation systems, as well as restoring and replacing aging infrastructure, to help public and private clients find smarter, more advanced ways to move people. AECOM's integrated approach and social responsibility have earned them the trust of local municipalities, government agencies, commercial clients, and public-private partnerships. This role is for all levels of Roadway, Traffic and Drainage Designers and Engineers to join a growing team throughout Maryland and Virginia, working on alternative delivery projects, including mega-projects.

Requirements

  • BS Degree or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience (for CAD Designers)
  • BS in Engineering + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience (for Junior Level Engineers)
  • BS in Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience (for Mid-Level Engineers)
  • BS in Engineering + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience (for Senior Level Engineers / Task Leads)

Nice To Haves

  • EIT Certification or PE License

Responsibilities

  • Design/Build or Alternative Delivery project experience
  • Experience or interest in complex interstate highway design
  • Experience with Bentley Microstation and Open Roads
  • Experience or interest in developing design packages for highway improvement projects
  • Roadway Design calculations including Superelevation, Stopping Sight Distance (SSD), Decision Sight Distance (DSD), Acceleration and Deceleration lanes
  • Experience in all aspects of MOT design, including: Cross Sections, Typical Cross Sections, Traffic Control Plans, Profiles, Temporary Signing and Pavement Markings, Detour Routes
  • Experience using the 2018 AASHTO Green Book
  • Experience in signing/pavement marking design
  • Experience with traffic signal design
  • Interstate design, and complex interchanges preferred
  • Technical expertise in highway drainage design including: Storm Drain Design, Cross Culvert Analysis and Design, Hydrology, Ditch Design, Bridge Deck Drainage, Temporary Drainage, Stormwater Quantity Control
