As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Roadway Project Engineer to support our Transportation Group in Metro Nashville, TN. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 3 days of onsite office attendance. Working on the roadway team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction support. They will develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packages. Establishing working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers is key. This role also involves assisting in the recruitment and management/mentoring of junior engineers on project assignments. Attending internal and external meetings with the team, coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managers, and coordinating the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, and quality control of subconsultants and internal technical and support staff are also responsibilities. Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance, leading projects and completing tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines, performing project QA/QC, and assisting project managers with various other tasks are expected. The role requires multi-tasking and managing workload on various projects simultaneously, undertaking tasks efficiently and independently, and participating in the development of proposals as part of a pursuit team. Supporting GFT efforts to grow our Transportation Practice in Tennessee is also a key aspect of this position.
