About The Position

Would you enjoy a career supporting vital roadway operations that keep your community moving safely and smoothly every day? As a Roadway Programs Technician 1 for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), you will help organize and track key information used to support a wide-range of maintenance projects. This position allows you to work with managers, field staff, and inventory systems to keep operations moving smoothly. You will also assist with monitoring supplies, collecting data, and reviewing important roadway information. This position supports roadway maintenance planning, data review, inventory monitoring, and field evaluations across the Carbon County.

Requirements

• One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent
• An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training
• Possession of a current driver’s license which is not under suspension
• Meet the PA residency requirement
• Able to perform essential job functions

• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Responsibilities

• Analyze work plans and help adjust program needs for labor, materials, and equipment
• Review information from Systems Applications and Products (SAP) and Roadway Management System (RMS) systems to support goals and maintain program accuracy
• Observe maintenance work in the field and gather data to support development of work standards
• Track materials, monitor stockpile levels, and complete goods receipt entries in SAP
• Inspect guiderail and roadway damage, prepare reports, and coordinate repairs with contractors
• Monitor roadside service contracts and verify that completed work meets expectations

Benefits

• Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).
