About The Position

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a Roadway Inspector to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team. This position is responsible for monitoring daily activities of asphalt, concrete, and earthwork for conformance of client/contractor work on various projects to ensure materials meet specifications. The position will perform engineering inspections activities such as construction observation and field sampling of asphalt, concrete, and earthwork for construction application. The inspector will record daily notes for engineering staff. The inspector must have strong written and verbal communication skills along with above average math skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 or more years of highway construction or asphalt plant experience preferred.
  • Must be Roadway Testing Technician certified.
  • Current driver’s license with good 3-year driving record is required.

  • Candidates with experience performing construction inspection, materials testing, roadway and bridge inspection, utility coordination, surveying, quality assurance, quality control, or transportation construction management on projects for agencies such as GDOT, SCDOT, local municipalities, or heavy civil contractors are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all materials, procedures and safety rules comply with the latest GDOT standards.
  • Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet quality requirements of the project specifications.
  • Material sampling of concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and aggregates.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and client representatives.
  • Attend meetings and interact with clients and third-party personnel.
  • Must use diplomacy in difficult and stressful situations.
