About The Position

Volkert is seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer in Training (EIT) to support its Southwest Region in Rockwall, Texas. The role contributes to roadway engineering projects through data collection and analysis, plan development, engineering reports and calculations, cost estimates, specifications, quantity reviews, and project scheduling. Applicants must have an EIT certification and at least two years of experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Two to four years of experience.
• EIT (E.I.) certification.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening; testing may include substances such as marijuana in accordance with federal guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).

Nice To Haves

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Passed the PE exam.
• Previous TxDOT experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for inclusion in project plans and reports.
• Assist with and prepare project plans using OpenRoads.
• Contribute to preparing and modifying engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects.
• Prepare and assist with project construction quantities and cost estimates.
• Prepare and assist with project specifications.
• Review project quantity estimates and details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance with project requirements.
• Prepare and assist with project schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
