The purpose of this position is to provide the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) with a skilled operator capable of performing herbicide application and vegetation management and heavy equipment/tree removal operations in support of roadway and right-of-way maintenance.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations.
• A current herbicide Equipment Applicator License issued by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture is REQUIRED for this position at time of appointment.
• A Class "A" CDL license is required prior to being hired for this position.

Responsibilities

• Operates spray trucks and specialized herbicide equipment to control roadside vegetation along highways, bridges, drainage structures, and rights-of-way
• Mixes and applies herbicides at proper rates for targeted vegetation
• Applies chemicals including, but not limited to: Roundup, Garlon 3A/4, 2-4D, MSMA, Hyvar XL, OUST, and others
• Uses backpack and handheld sprayers for precise applications
• Maintains accurate chemical inventory and daily application logs in compliance with DOTD and LDAF requirements
• Performs calibration of spray equipment to ensure proper application rates
• Enters daily work activities into Agile system
