The primary function of this position is to perform all related repairs and/or maintenance on County roads, bridges, and rights-of-way. This role involves assisting in road, bridge, and drainage repair, shoulder work, and maintaining tools and equipment. The technician will operate machinery like a chipper, cut trees, mow grass, dig trenches, and assist with a VAC truck for storm drain maintenance. Responsibilities also include cleaning up construction debris, driving County vehicles safely, completing paperwork, maintaining a clean and organized work area with proper safety signage, and attending required training and safety meetings. The position requires the use of appropriate safety equipment and may involve working extended hours during natural disasters, with on-call duties during hurricane season. The employee may be required to work in any capacity deemed appropriate during special, emergency, or disaster situations.
