About The Position

Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of street maintenance. This role involves performing routine street maintenance projects such as patching and drainage repair, assisting with various seasonal projects like chip and seal paving, snow and ice removal, leaf removal, and tree trimming/removal. The position also includes lake and dam maintenance, basic landscaping duties, mowing and weed eating FGCC facilities, new landscaping projects, proper use of chemicals, and maintaining street signs. The laborer may operate equipment and is responsible for keeping the staging area, truck, and equipment clean. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Valid TN Driver’s License
Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time (more with assistance)

Nice To Haves

1 – 5 years previous experience with road construction, street maintenance and grounds keeping preferred

Responsibilities

Perform routine street maintenance projects (patching, drainage repair, etc.).
Assist with the chip and seal paving project.
Assist with snow and ice removal.
Assist with leaf removal project.
Assist with tree trimming and removal.
Assist with lake and dam maintenance.
Perform basic landscaping duties i.e., weeding, planting flowers, shrubs, trees, etc.
Mowing and weed eating FGCC facilities (Dog Park, Robinhood Park, boat ramps, etc.)
New landscaping projects (installing river rock, landscaping block, dirt work, boulders, etc.)
Proper use of chemicals (weed killer, fertilizer, etc.)
Maintain street signs (install, paint, etc.).
May operate equipment (trucks, mowers, tractor, etc.)
Keep staging area, truck and equipment clean.
Other duties as assigned.
