About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Road Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our fleet of heavy trucks, digger derricks, bucket trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment used in powerline construction and maintenance. This role provides on-the-road (field) service, keeping crews operational and safe across job sites. Candidates with hands-on knowledge of the powerline/utility construction industry are strongly preferred, though not required.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic, or equivalent technical training/certification
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and heavy truck electrical systems
• Ability to diagnose and repair issues both in-shop and in the field
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and travel to job sites as needed
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Ability to climb, bend stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and repetitive motions.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - rubber gloves/sleeves, hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, shields, face masks
• Sense of Balance
• Ability to sustain awkward positions/posture

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on knowledge of the powerline/utility construction industry
• Experience working on digger derricks, bucket trucks, or other powerline/utility construction equipment
• Familiarity with the powerline or utility construction industry and its equipment demands
• CDL license
• ASE certifications (Diesel, Hydraulics, Electrical)
• Experience with DOT inspection requirements
