About The Position

The RNG Operator Technician will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) plant, which includes gas compression, gas processing, and filtration equipment. This role involves working with Landfill Gas (LFG) and ensuring pipeline quality RNG. The technician must comply with all safety and environmental regulations, perform regular inspections and maintenance on various plant equipment, and handle administrative duties related to equipment documentation and reporting. Additionally, the position requires fault-finding, repair, and reporting of gas, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as operating advanced instrumentation and process control systems. The role also includes on-call duties, interfacing with well field operations and the local natural gas utility, and ensuring personal and others' health and safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, hear and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
  • The work is physical in nature; ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, crawl, climb, stoop, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and on-call hours.
  • Maintenance, gas, mechanical or electrical experience and/or suitable background.
  • Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to collect and interpret data and write clear and accurate reports.
  • Experience with Gas or refrigeration equipment.
  • Experience with LFG extraction and use systems and equipment.
  • Advanced electrical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, such as PLC’s, generators, high voltage and/or control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operation and maintenance of RNG plant consisting of gas compression, gas processing and filtration equipment.
  • Comply with all workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations as well as all relevant compliance obligations relation to environmental protection.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including rotating gas compressors, H2S gas scrubber, CO2 membranes, N2 removal PSA and other auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, valves, etc.
  • Perform fault-finding, repairs and reporting of gas, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Operation of advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Available for on-call duties remaining within 45 minutes of the power station during these hours.
  • Tasks including, readings, tuning, pump orientation and maintenance, flaring operations and maintenance as needed.
  • Interface with well field (LFG) operations and local natural gas utility.
  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.
  • Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company.
