About The Position

The Montefiore RN-OR maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement. Essential Functions Assists Physicians and Anesthesiologists with positioning, intubation extubation and blood loss monitoring Appropriately breaks down sterile field and prepares instruments to be sent to Decontamination. Identifies and communicates unit needs on an ongoing basis. Identifies equipment and instruments needing repair and follows policy 100% of the time. Facilitates necessary process in O.R. Rooms to promote shortest possible turn-over time and compliance with first case starts. Demonstrates basic skill in assessment of health care needs in the peri-operative period as evidenced by feedback, observation or random review of appropriate documentation. Demonstrates basic skill in the implementation of nursing care in the peri-operative period to meet identified patient care needs Demonstrates basic skill in evaluating perioperative nursing care delivered. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.

Requirements

  • AS Required
  • BSN Preferred
  • C.N.O.R. Certification preferred
  • BLS
  • ACLS and Infection Control Certification required
  • Registered Nurse New York Required
  • A minimum of one of experience as an OR Nurse required
