About The Position

This is a brand new 12-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVSICU) opening in July 2026, featuring open heart hemodynamic monitoring and cutting-edge technology. The unit will handle high acuity patients with strong multidisciplinary support, including close collaboration with surgeons, pharmacy, and RT. The role offers structured training, intentional onboarding, and opportunities to cross-train and grow specialized critical care skills. It fosters a culture built by nurses who prioritize safety, learning, and mutual support, with strong leadership presence and opportunities to develop skills that elevate a career and maintain clinical sharpness. The unit offers a 2:1 Patient to Nurse Ratio, with a 1:1 ratio based on patient acuity.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • 1 year of critical care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating all care touchpoints for patients.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
  • Maintaining and advocating a safe environment for everyone.
  • Monitoring and engaging with patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.
  • Preventing and treating wounds.
  • Monitoring and executing Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Ensuring continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
  • Advising and consulting with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
  • Initiating patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
  • Assisting others without being asked to contribute to the team.
