About The Position

This role is more than a job; it's a specialized calling in cath lab nursing that requires emergent on-call duties. The position involves taking the lead in prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating patient care, explaining procedures to patients and families, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and physicians to ensure excellent patient care and outcomes. The nurse will maintain and advocate for a safe environment, monitor and engage with patients and families regarding significant events or concerns, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements. Additionally, the role focuses on ensuring continuity of care, efficient patient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience. The nurse is expected to advise supervisors when unable to complete assignments promptly or safely, initiate patient and family education, and contribute to the team by assisting others proactively. Requirements

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • ICU experience

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating all care touchpoints for patients.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and families as appropriate.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members and working alongside physicians to ensure excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Maintaining and advocating for a safe environment for everyone.
  • Monitoring and engaging with patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.
  • Monitoring and executing Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Ensuring continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
  • Advising and consulting with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
  • Initiating patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
  • Contributing to the team by assisting others without being asked.
  • Responding to emergent on-call duties when duty calls.
