The Registered Nurse (RN) performs independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards as defined by the state Board of Nursing. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. The RN evaluates health status through ongoing collection and assessment of health data, performs health teaching and counseling, and provides therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and well-being. This includes direct patient care as well as indirect consultation, delegation, supervision, or teaching of others. The RN executes delegated medical functions, refers patients as needed, and reviews and monitors therapy and treatment plans. Documentation is performed in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines. The position requires the use of resources as needed and promotes the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, adhering to service behavior standards. The role may require floating to other departments based on business need and may involve being on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
