About The Position

Utilizes Mercy's Nursing Professional Practice Model and the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for the care of assigned patients and coordinates their care with other departments. Protects patients' rights and the confidentiality of patient information. Practices within the scope of nursing preparation and established nursing guidelines, consistent with the goals of Mercy Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics, and the Co-Worker Code of Conduct. Performs duties in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and Service Standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of a state-approved professional nursing program.
• Current RN licensure with the State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice, or a current temporary work permit in the applicable state of practice.
• Three years of RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to meet unit-specific physical demands, including standing and walking most of the time on duty; bending and stooping; and lifting and turning patients with assistance.
• Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 40 pounds and pinch up to 10 pounds; kneeling, crouching, and crawling are required minimally.
• Ability to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequencies according to patient-care requirements.
• Ability to work in an environment with high-risk exposure to blood and body fluids.
