About The Position

The RN provides post-operative care to patients in the PACU. The role includes monitoring patients’ vital signs and other post-surgical factors, reviewing medical histories, completing post-operative care tasks, and educating patients and their families or caregivers about recovery at home. The RN also assesses whether patients are ready to leave the facility or require more specialized ICU care and collaborates with other hospital personnel to provide quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Frequently check PACU patients and monitor their vital signs and other post-surgical factors.
• Review each patient’s medical history and note important information.
• Perform post-operative tasks, such as changing bandages and administering medications.
• Provide patients and their family members or caretakers with information about home recovery, including diet or activity restrictions.
• Determine whether patients are ready to leave the facility or need more specialized care in the ICU.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, technologists, and other hospital personnel to provide quality patient care.
