About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Sanford Health's Neilson Place is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. This role involves collaboration with residents, families, and inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The RN demonstrates competency within the full scope of nursing expertise, caring for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. Key responsibilities include coordination of care, resident assessment, and resident education. The RN may also serve as a charge nurse, delegating tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel while ensuring safe and reliable administration of care. The position operates within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure, adhering to the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing
  • Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility
  • Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state, or states, of practice
  • Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred
  • Certification may be required depending on specialty or service area

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents
  • Collaborating with resident and family, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting
  • Caring for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Coordinating care, resident assessment, resident education and various other nursing interventions
  • Serving as charge nurse and delegating appropriate tasks to license and unlicensed assistive personnel that are within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate
  • Providing adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns
  • Functioning within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure
