Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Director, this position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and providing high quality, individualized patient care using the components of the nursing process. The role involves performing duties that address the physical, psycho-social, and spiritual needs of critically ill patients, including timely initial and ongoing assessments, incorporating cultural and ethnic factors, and differentiating between normal and abnormal findings for adolescent through geriatric patient populations. The nurse utilizes hospital and regulatory standards to develop, implement, and evaluate trans-disciplinary care plans, collaborating with patients/families to create individualized plans and evaluate outcomes. A case management approach is used to plan, guide, direct, coordinate, and collaboratively incorporate patient care across the continuum, requiring effective communication with physicians, staff, and other disciplines. The position also entails safely and competently administering pharmacotherapeutics, monitoring outcomes, and ensuring patient safety in the physical environment. Professional conduct includes reporting to work on time, actively participating in staff meetings and quality improvement, demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment, and effectively using computer systems. The nurse is expected to communicate respectfully, maintain a positive professional image, demonstrate flexibility, and consistently apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Adherence to dress code, timely completion of education requirements, maintenance of regulatory compliance, and upholding patient confidentiality are also key aspects of the role. The nurse must embody the facility's mission, vision, and values, comply with policies, and maintain required licensure and certifications.
