About The Position

Addington Place at College Harbor is currently looking for a dedicated RN for their 52-bed Skilled Nursing community. They are seeking an experienced RN for their nursing department at a respected community in St. Petersburg, Florida. Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Current CPR Card.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use nursing programs, email, and other online reporting programs.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Able to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting up to 60 pounds.
  • Able to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other team members.
  • In good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
  • Able to perform frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of equipment, bending, and stooping.
  • Able to spend long periods of time on foot.
  • Able to react quickly in any situation.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct nursing care to the residents in an assigned unit under the direction of the shift supervisor.
  • Supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants.
  • Ensuring an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
  • Supporting and cooperating with specific procedures and programs for safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security.
  • Reporting and/or correcting unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all data including resident, employee and operations data.
  • Supporting and participating in quality improvement and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal discriminatory behavior.
  • Supporting and participating in common teamwork, cooperating and working together with all co-workers.
  • Using tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Following up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
  • Completing requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
  • Giving and receiving condition reports from the on-coming and off-going shift.
  • Making rounds and routine checks on patients/residents.
  • Observing and reporting symptoms and conditions of residents/patients.
  • Administering treatments and medications as prescribed by a physician.
  • Maintaining records reflecting resident condition and treatment including nurse’s notes, discharge plans, resident assessments, doctor’s orders, etc.
  • Notifying physicians when resident’s condition warrants.
  • Admitting, transferring and discharging residents according to policy.
  • Reviewing, monitoring, intervening and reporting complaints/grievances made by residents, families, etc.
  • Performing emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and reporting accidents or incidents in a timely manner.
  • Assigning duties to non-professional nursing personnel and supervising and evaluating work performance.
  • Monitoring and updating care plans each shift as appropriate.
  • Maintaining a physical, social and psychological environment which is conducive to the interest and welfare of the residents.
  • Investigating and reporting employee incidents according to company policy and coordinating return to work programs with Human Resources.
  • Participating in appropriate meetings and training.
