About The Position

The primary purpose of your job is to provide nursing services in Dialysis in accordance with the current applicable Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed by the CEO, Director of Physician Services, CNE and practice providers.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Dialysis: more than 1 year of experience in a medical/surgical unit required
  • BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire. AHA & ARC accepted.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise the assignment of staff, makes assignments and checks for completion of job duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to tactfully communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to use a telephone, fax, copier, and all other equipment associated with nursing practice.
  • Ability to stand/walk 90% of the shift, frequent pushing, climbing, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting and helping lift objects and patients ranging from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds.
  • Ability to use hands, fingers, arms and wrists, hearing, smell, and verbal skills are required in order to perform job duties.
  • Color vision is required for perceiving changes in skin color and using color-coded tubing lines
  • Utilize face shields/mask, gloves, protective clothing, safety glasses, and other protection associated with the care of patients.
  • Must be able to demonstrate adequate technical skills and judgment to function unsupervised during on-call, second shift, and weekend hours.
  • Ability to handle stress and work in emergency situations.
  • Ability to use of fingers and hands to operate all department-related equipment as described on the Department checklist. Additionally, must use beeper, telephone, calculator, fax, and other related office equipment.
  • Ability to Stand and walk approximately ninety percent (90%) of shift, with frequent climbing, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, and helping to lift objects and/or patients ranging from five (5) to three hundred (300) or more pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist, crouch, squat, pull, push, reach, and remain stationary for short period of times and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to differentiate colors.

  • Med/Surg, Infusion, LDRP: 1 year of prior, related medical/surgical experience preferred
  • NCMG: minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience preferred
  • Perioperative: at least 2 years of prior perioperative experience
  • Dialysis: critical care experience preferred
  • Dialysis: ACLS preferred
  • Infusion: Strong IV skills or certification
  • LDRP: at least 2 years of prior labor and delivery experience preferred
  • ACLS and PALS certification required prior to completion of orientation or within 6 months of hire, whichever occurs first.
  • Professional certification in applicable nursing field(s) preferred.
  • Completed training in IS-100, and any other mandated requirements for emergency management.
  • Other certifications as needed to preform clinical tasks within the clinical setting as required.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications required prior to completion of orientation or within 6 months of hire, whichever occurs first.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • NRP certification required upon hire.
  • Breast feeding related certification required within one year of hire.
  • Current chemotherapy/biotherapy card required within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses physical, psychological and social dimensions of the patient.
  • Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries and disease and uses available resources in assessment process.
  • Provides written assessment of patient on admission.
  • Documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness and complications and summarizes information on discharge.
  • Summarizes assessment data and makes a nursing care plan which is written and communicated to other patient care providers.
  • Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients.
  • Functions within the limits of State Nurse Practice Act, hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Assesses, plans and implements instruction for patient and family needs.
  • Communicates such plan via Bedside Shift Report.
  • Provides verbal and written instructions including medication and side effects.
  • Reports patient care or management problems to Clinical Coordinator and /or supervisor when necessary and investigates and intervenes in problem situations reporting appropriate information.
  • Makes outpatient assignment based on acuity and staff qualifications and experience.
  • Coordinates unit routines, providing guidance to staff, orienting new staff, assuring presence and working order of emergency equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to care for patients in various age group, pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Demonstrates ability to care for surgical patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to care for medical patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide safe environment for short-term psychiatric patients.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and safe use of medications specific to the acute care patient population.
  • Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms of patients, recognizing a patient’s psychological development and modifies approaches for patients.
  • Interview and communication techniques are age-appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
