The staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated timeframe and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial, and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. This role includes performing wound assessment, reassessment, management, and plan of care for all wound care patients per unit standards. The RN will modify the plan of care based on wound patient and family needs, and will be knowledgeable of the anatomy and physiology and disorders of the dermal and vascular systems. The position involves implementing wound care procedures and theories, inputting charges, and entering documentation on all wound care patients into the computer system in a timely manner. The RN will also be knowledgeable of all clinical products currently available in the organization and make recommendations for products/equipment. The role requires operating all equipment correctly and safely and fulfilling all wound care department competencies.
