About The Position

The Vascular Access Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, insertion and monitoring of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC), Midline Catheter, Peripheral IV Catheters and other venous access devices inserted with and without the use of ultrasound guidance with minimal supervision, under the order of a Licensed Independent Practitioner and in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital/department policies. Responsibility also includes coordinating the process of PICC Line/Midline placements, communication with primary care nurse and providing education for care and maintenance of vascular access devices. The Vascular Access RN directs the PICC line process and team member, establishing a positive and professional rapport with other departments and staff focusing on the provision on individualized quality patient care consistent with organizational standards and goals.

Requirements

  • ACLS certified
  • BLS certified
  • PICC certified
  • Member of AVA and/or INS
  • VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certified) Certification required within one year of start date
  • CPUI (certified PICC ultrasound inserter) within one year of position acceptance
  • CRNI within 6 months of start date
  • BSN within 1 year max of start date
  • 3-5 years’ experience in acute
  • 3 years of recent PICC Line experience required.
