The J8-1 Vascular Surgery Stepdown Unit supports populations managing occlusive disorders, inflammatory diseases, traumas and neurovascular compressive syndromes. Additionally, this team often sees patients from Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Internal/Family Medicine, offering an excellent setting to develop a wide variety of skills. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills. A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 7:00AM—7:30PM and 7:00PM—7:30AM.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
