About The Position

We are an RN based Vascular Access Team. We provide 24 hour services throughout the inpatient and outpatient areas of the hospital. This includes peripheral IV, midline and PICC(peripherally inserted central catheter) insertion. We recommend the most appropriate access based on patient assessment. Other responsibilities include dressing changes, line troubleshooting and surveillance. We educate staff on the RIGHT LINE for the RIGHT PATIENT at the RIGHT TIME. Nurses, under the ANA scope of practice, utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Nurses provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health's policies and procedures. Applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other. Partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care. Demonstrates knowledge of and competently performs technical procedures and uses equipment properly. Documents in the patient record in a timely, accurate and concise manner. Develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience.
  • External candidate must successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education required
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
  • Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates are to remain a unit-based PRN (casual) employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
