About The Position

Responsible for planning, delivering, and managing direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to nursing practice standards. The role supports care from admission through discharge, with attention to the developmental age of the patient population. This is a per-diem position with mixed shifts. Scheduled hours may include 0645–1515, 1445–2315, and 2300–0700. The schedule includes one major summer holiday, one major winter holiday, and one full weekend per month.

Requirements

Current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), required within 30 days of hire.
Thorough knowledge of the nursing discipline.
ACLS through the AHA is required within six months of hire or at the first scheduled course offering, whichever is sooner, in select areas: Gannett, MP1, ICU, ED, Cath Lab, Endo, IR, PACU, and Float Pool.
PALS through the AHA is required within six months of hire or at the first scheduled course offering, whichever is sooner, in select areas: PACU and ED.
NRP Advanced Provider certification through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is required within six months of hire or at the first scheduled course offering, whichever is sooner, in Maternity.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Use the nursing process to deliver and manage patient care from admission to discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to standard procedure.
Develop and coordinate an individual plan of care, including discharge planning.
Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
Delegate appropriately according to job descriptions and competency levels.
