About The Position

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role involves planning, assessing, directing, implementing, and providing quality patient care for assigned patients, including modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. The nurse will provide education tailored to individual patient needs, utilizing the nursing process in conjunction with policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include monitoring changes in patient condition, recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs, and intervening as necessary. The role also entails performing complete data collection from patient complaints and history, collaborating with patients to identify treatment plan goals, and discharging patients with a written discharge plan. Encouraging family participation and delivering nursing care, including assessment and planning of education for identified knowledge deficits, treatment, pain management, and discharge, are crucial. Accurate documentation in medical records, on forms, and in the computer, meeting all standards, policies, and procedures, is required. The nurse will deliver quality care by employing multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizing risks of infection, harm, or injury. Maintaining accurate reports and records, directing care with consideration for age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history are essential. Building and maintaining good rapport and cooperative working relationships with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors is expected. The role requires anticipating deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and taking appropriate action, as well as modifying patient treatment plans based on patient responses and conditions. Collaboration with patient care team members on patient care plans, including consistent use of hand-off communication, is vital. Conducting and coordinating patient care and transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable, and performing additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures are also part of the role. Requirements

Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days.
6 months -1.99 years of relevant experience (for RN I).
2-4.99 years of relevant experience (for RN II).
5-9.99 years of relevant experience (for RN III).
10+ years of relevant experience (for RN IV).
Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) and must be maintained throughout employment.
Completes Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire date and maintains credentialing throughout employment.
Completes Pediatric Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 90 days of hire date and maintains credentialing throughout employment for Urgent Care Center and Emergency Department.
Must successfully complete, pass, and maintain all applicable and requisite training as established by each department in accordance with the JPS Clinical Job Specific Competency Validation Checklist.
Completes the requisite certification and courses within the required timeframes, to include but not limited to: Successful completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days of employment, based on home unit/employee specific orientation plan.
Approved Education and Training in Non-Violent Crisis De-escalation must be obtained within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment for Urgent Care Center and Emergency Service.
EKG course within 90 days of employment and maintained throughout employment for Clinical Decision Unit and Emergency Service.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Certification in the area of nurse specialty.

Responsibilities

Documents accurately in medical records, on forms, and in the computer entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and or other information, meeting standards, policy, and procedures.
Delivers quality care by using multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizing the risk of infection, harm, or injury.
Maintains accurate detailed reports and records and directs care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors.
Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Collaborates with patient care team members on patient care plan, incorporating consistent use of hand-off communication.
Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable.
Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures.
