The RN Unit Supervisor at Freeport Nursing Services is responsible for strong problem-solving in complex situations, working within budget and productivity targets, and supporting staff selection, evaluation, orientation, education, development, competency, and scheduling based on patient acuity. This role involves supporting and partnering with the Manager/Clinical Leader to ensure staff knowledge, skills, and behaviors align with unit goals. The position requires outstanding relationship-building skills, particularly with physicians, and a patient-focused approach with a commitment to high quality, safety, and customer service. The supervisor is accountable for achieving patient satisfaction targets (PressGaney and HCAHPS) and supporting process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change. Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements is essential. The role demands effective and persuasive communication, participation in hospital and department committees, and demonstrated ability in developing and mentoring staff. The supervisor leads by example, exhibiting professional behavior, personal and professional accountability, and a passion for nursing. They serve as a role model and coach for Critical Moments of Service Standards and service recovery, participate in performance improvement activities, and utilize critical thinking for patient safety and experience, escalating issues as appropriate. The role also supports the professional nurse continuum and nursing clinical ladder (CARE).
