About The Position

This position demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care within a department. The RN Unit Coordinator, under the direction of the department manager, leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to staff development. The role aims to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent customer service. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility in Norfolk, VA, serving as the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and is the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. The hospital specializes in various medical fields including heart and vascular, neurosciences, oncology, and maternity care. Sentara Health is a not-for-profit integrated healthcare provider based in Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina, with a workforce of almost 30,000 members. Requirements

  • 18 months nursing experience required
  • BSN required
  • If the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required
  • Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty
  • Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire
  • Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Master degree preferred
  • Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred
