About The Position

The Wound Care Treatment Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, specialized wound care to residents in accordance with physician orders, clinical best practices, and regulatory standards. This role focuses on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of various types of wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and chronic ulcers. The Wound Care RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement effective care plans, promote optimal healing outcomes, and ensure compliance with infection control and documentation requirements. This position plays a key role in improving resident quality of life and supporting overall clinical excellence within the center.

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina
  • Graduate of a state approved school of Nursing.
  • Current and active RN license in the state of residence.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health and must be kind, considerate, understanding and enjoy working with elderly people.
  • Must possess skills necessary for acting as charge nurse or Supervisor on a given unit, when assigned.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in wound care, treatment nursing, or long-term care preferred
  • Certification in wound care (WCC, WOCN, or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and wound care protocols
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
  • Compassionate approach to patient care with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in skilled nursing or post-acute care setting
  • Familiarity with EMR systems
  • Experience with quality measures and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized wound care treatment for residents in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate wound care interventions, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and chronic ulcers
  • Perform wound assessments, measurements, documentation, and ongoing monitoring of healing progress
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and best practices in wound management
  • Educate nursing staff, patients, and families on wound care prevention and treatment
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and facility guidelines
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to skin integrity and wound care outcomes
