About The Position

The RN Trauma Registrar is responsible for collecting, completing, and verifying the accuracy of patient data in the Trauma Registry data collection system. The position supports quality assurance and improvement initiatives and serves as a foundation of the Trauma Program. It creates and maintains clinical and statistical data, including injury coding, and provides trauma registry data and statistics to the Trauma Manager monthly and as requested. The role also assists with trauma outreach efforts. It is accountable to trauma registry standards and reports directly to the Trauma Manager.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain it as required.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain it.
• TNCC certification upon hire and maintain it.
• Basic typing skills, computer literacy, and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Three years of clinical healthcare-related experience.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Pass the Certification Examination for Trauma Registrars (CSTR) within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Trauma database training.
• Data entry skills and knowledge of basic anatomy and Injury Severity Scoring.
• Understanding of quality assurance and process improvement.
• Experience with data analysis and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Collect, complete, and verify the accuracy of patient data in the Trauma Registry data collection system.
• Create and maintain clinical and statistical data, AIS coding, ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes, and abstract required data elements.
• Abstract data as required by the American College of Surgeons, the National Trauma Data Bank, the Trauma Program, and DRMC Hospital.
• Provide trauma registry data and statistics to the Trauma Manager monthly and as requested.
• Assist the Trauma Manager with trauma outreach efforts.
