As an RN Trauma Program Specialist, you will collaborate with the trauma program manager to evaluate patient care, conduct clinical and operational performance improvement activities, and develop evidence-based guidelines. Your role will be crucial in ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing patient outcomes through the refinement of guidelines, implementation of performance improvement initiatives, and provision of trauma education. Success in this role requires expertise in trauma care, strong analytical skills for patient care evaluation, and the ability to develop evidence-based guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Three (3) years recent hospital experience
  • One (1) year in a critical care area (ICU or Emergency Department)
  • RN License; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
  • Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
  • TNCC upon hire or within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Membership to a related professional organization (Society of Trauma Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the trauma program manager to develop and execute performance improvement processes that support optimal outcomes for trauma patients.
  • Performs concurrent process improvement and evaluation of trauma care throughout the continuum, from prehospital, emergency room, operative, inpatient, and discharge.
  • Assesses compliance with trauma protocols and guidelines by observation and chart review.
  • Reviews trauma team activations and assesses for appropriateness based on established criteria.
  • Tracks findings within the trauma process improvement program and documents loop closure of any findings.
  • Monitors patient progress through the continuum of care for ongoing identification of potential care issues and facilitates timely resolution through communication and collaboration with the care team.
