About The Position

The Trauma ICU at Allegheny General Hospital is a 24-bed unit dedicated to providing the highest level of trauma care, holding a Level 1 Trauma Center designation. As Pennsylvania's first Trauma ICU, established in 1979, it has a history of pioneering trauma services. The unit manages critically ill patients with diverse traumatic injuries, including blunt and penetrating trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and multi-system trauma, as well as post-operative surgical patients requiring intensive care. This diverse patient population and varying acuity levels offer nurses a comprehensive and challenging experience, preparing them for critical care excellence. Allegheny General Hospital is a Level I Shock Trauma Center with 5 state-of-the-art ICUs and a state-of-the-art Cancer Center, comprising over 550 beds. Requirements

  • Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for a designated patient population for the purpose of providing care based upon enactment of the nursing process.
  • Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
  • Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
  • Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
  • Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn.
