About The Position

Allegheny General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Neuro ICU unit. This is a full-time position requiring 72 hours of work every two weeks, with rotating weekends and holidays as per policy. The 7C Neuro ICU is a 22-bed unit that handles high-acuity patients including those with aneurysm-related conditions, brain tumors, trauma cases, and various neurological procedures. The RN will assist physicians with procedures under sterile conditions and is expected to provide comprehensive care based on the nursing process, demonstrating clinical assessment and care planning skills. This is a teaching unit that manages conditions such as head blocks, strokes (acute and IVTPA), and code situations. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team for patient care from admission to discharge and educating patients and families on their learning needs.

Requirements

• Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR certification

• Responsible and accountable for a designated patient population for the purpose of providing care based upon enactment of the nursing process.

• Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
• Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn.
• Assists MD under sterile conditions with procedures.
