About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in a Transitional Recovery Unit. It is a full-time position with day shifts. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on experience. Med-Surg nursing is described as the backbone of a hospital, requiring passion, mental toughness, empathy, and strong skills. The role involves being on the front line of care, building relationships with patients, and handling various patient needs and requests. It demands a wide range of nursing skills and offers a dynamic work environment. The nurse will be responsible for prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating patient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining a safe environment, monitoring patients and families, preventing and treating wounds, and ensuring compliance with infection control and environment of care requirements. The role also focuses on ensuring continuity of care, efficient patient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience. The nurse is expected to advise supervisors when unable to complete assignments safely or effectively and to initiate patient and family education.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current PALs certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating all care touchpoints for patients.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
  • Maintaining and advocating a safe environment for everyone.
  • Monitoring and engaging with patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns.
  • Preventing and treating wounds.
  • Monitoring and executing Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Ensuring continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
  • Advising and consulting with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
  • Initiating patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
  • Contributing to the team by assisting others without being asked.
