About The Position

This role is for an RN Team Leader LC. The position requires strong problem-solving abilities, the capacity to work within budget and productivity targets, and participation in staff selection, evaluation, orientation, education, competency assessment, and scheduling based on patient acuity. The Team Leader supports the Manager/Clinical Leader to ensure staff knowledge, skills, and behaviors align with unit goals. Key aspects include outstanding relationship-building skills, particularly with physicians, a patient-focused approach with a commitment to quality, safety, and customer service, and accountability for patient satisfaction action plans. The role also involves supporting process improvement, understanding accreditation and certification requirements, effective communication, participation in committees, and demonstrated ability in developing and mentoring staff. The Team Leader leads by example, demonstrating professional behavior, personal and professional accountability, and a passion for nursing. They serve as a role model and coach for service standards and service recovery, participate in performance improvement activities, and utilize critical thinking for patient safety and experience, escalating issues as needed. The role supports the professional nurse continuum and nursing clinical ladder for RNs (CARE).

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN or upon hire BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN Completion Program.
  • If hired prior to 1-1-14 in Winnebago County and prior to 9-1-15 in Rock, Walworth and McHenry Counties an ADN only is required.
  • May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines).
  • Must have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of progressively responsible hospital nursing experience.
  • Licensed as an RN in the State of practice.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Genuine concern for people.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Adept listener with the ability to interpret concerns.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • May include color blind test (per department guidelines).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • (Other certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, NALS)
