The RN Surgical PCU Fellowship is an onsite, full-time role in the Surgical Progressive Care Unit at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. The position provides direct patient care in a technically complex progressive care environment, using the nursing process and evidence-based care models. Nurses work with a multidisciplinary team, prioritize wellness and the patient perspective, support safety and quality at the point of care, and contribute to a fast-paced, innovative clinical environment. The role also includes precepting colleagues who are new to healthcare or UCHealth. The Progressive Care Fellowship is designed for experienced nurses who are new to critical care. Its four-phase orientation draws on AACN’s ECCO® (Essentials of Critical Care Orientation) resources and includes simulation-based learning, blocked learning across multiple systems, an electronic orientation tracker, and knowledge verification at each stage. The program uses novice-to-expert theory and adult learning styles to support critical care competency. Clinical educators provide individualized specialty education and training, with competency validation throughout clinical orientation. AACN’s Synergy Model and specialty certification standards inform evidence-based PCU care. The schedule is 72 hours per two-week pay period on a flex shift. Pay is $35.29–$54.71 per hour, dependent on relevant applicant experience.
