As an RN in Surgery supporting ophthalmology services, you will play an integral role across the full continuum of care for eye surgeries and procedures. This includes rotating through pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative phases, with training in both circulating and scrubbing roles. The environment is high-volume and fast-paced, requiring strong clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining exceptional patient care standards. The team is known for its collaborative, supportive culture, creating a positive and cohesive work environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology used to perform advanced eye procedures not widely available elsewhere in the region. Daily responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery, assisting during procedures, and providing post-operative care and education. Orientation includes a comprehensive OR training program of approximately six months, along with pre- and post-operative nursing competencies, tailored to individual experience and learning pace.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of RN experience or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program
  • If performing moderate/procedural sedation must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (within six months of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Prior experience as a circulating nurse or in a perioperative setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
  • Perform scrub and circulating functions.
  • Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
