About The Position

The OR/ENT Supervisor provides leadership and daily operational oversight for the Eye, ENT service line within the Operating Room to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care. This role supervises clinical staff, coordinates workflow and scheduling, supports regulatory and quality initiatives, manages resources, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to promote excellent patient outcomes and service excellence. The supervisor serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and leader, fostering staff development, accountability, and continuous improvement within the perioperative environment. Responsible to implement the nursing process within Sanford and the continuum of care. The nursing process is utilized to assess, diagnose, establish a plan with outcome criteria, intervene, evaluate, and document human responses to actual or potential health problems. Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care. Responsible for the planning and coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions. Functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of employment into position.

Nice To Haves

Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Three years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care, and a working knowledge of administrative and management techniques.
Certification may be required depending on specialty or service area.

Responsibilities

Assures delivery of safe patient care through ensuring supplies and equipment are readily available for each specialized area and procedure.
Maintains current certifications in specialty and continues education when necessary.
Serve and/or chair departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
May be asked to assist with other projects or work assignments as needed by organization, department or leadership.
May include duties as a liaison for accrediting or governing agencies for services such as sleep medicine.
