Cleveland Clinic’s Liver OR and Transplant program has over 30 years of experience and is the largest liver transplant program in the nation. The Liver Transplant Team at Cleveland Clinic is comprised of surgeons, liver transplant physicians, coordinators, nurses, social workers and a vast network of people and resources to make the liver transplant process as smooth as possible. This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour day shift during the week. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule. A caregiver in this position works weekend days after orientation (Saturday and Sunday) + one day/night shift from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Orientation is 6 months Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Licensed military RN experience will be considered
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire
  • One year RN experience required or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • OR experience in circulating and scrubbing

Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
  • Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
  • Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
  • Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
  • Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
