About The Position
Olympic Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Surgical Services unit. This position is located on Washington State’s beautiful North Olympic Peninsula, offering abundant recreational opportunities and a desirable lifestyle. The RN will provide direct patient care, supervise surgical technicians and ancillary personnel, and promote continuity of care. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric. Patient and family teaching is also a key component, as is maintaining professional nursing standards. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and be able to assess and interpret patient data based on age-specific needs. Shifts vary based on patient and department needs, and on-call responsibilities are included.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing, required.
- Current Washington State RN license, required.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), required.
- Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum one-year recent surgical experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients in the surgical unit which spans all population ages from pediatric to geriatric.
- Promotes continuity of care for patients providing direct care as well as supervising care given by the Surgical Technicians and ancillary personnel.
- Participates in patient and family teaching.
- Maintains standards for professional nursing practices.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and provides the care needed as described in the department/unit’s policy and procedures.
