With 5 cardiac ORs, Mercy Hospital has helped pioneer some of the nation’s most innovative heart procedures, including robotic, minimally invasive, standard heart surgery and TAVR. This CVOR performs nearly 200 open heart surgeries per year. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), you will provide care to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. You will perform scrub and circulating functions, prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for surgery and assist the operating physician with surgical tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire
  • OR experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
  • Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
  • Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
  • Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
