About The Position

Join our 62‑bed perioperative unit at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. We are a high‑functioning, evidence‑driven team within a Magnet hospital and Level I trauma center, dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient‑centered surgical care. The PreOp- PACU team, can expect to expertly prepare and recover patients across cardiac cath lab, operating room, interventional radiology, and endoscopy settings—ensuring seamless transitions and top-tier outcomes. Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of critical care or PreOP- PACU experience in an acute care setting.
  • At least one (1) year of leadership experience, such as serving as a Charge RN.
  • Current California RN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and team development skills, with the ability to effectively plan, execute, and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to exercise authority and responsibility in managing services, aligned with the organization’s scope and the complexity of patient care.
  • Must possess all required competencies and certifications expected of a Charge RN within the unit.
  • Experience with electronic charting systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPIC charting software.

  • Sharing leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing daily staffing plans
  • Ensuring appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge
  • Ensuring the safe transition of patients thru the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care
