About The Position

Incumbent is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing human resources, directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets, and participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.

Requirements

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
A minimum of three years of nursing experience in a cardiac cath lab or acute critical care setting
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience
Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
All internal candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within 3 years of date of hire
Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills
Current California RN license
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge and practice of hemodynamic monitoring and pressures wave forms
Experience with diagnostic/interventional procedures, pediatric heart catheterization, EP studies, AICD and pacemaker insertion
Demonstrate experience with conscious sedation, circulating, monitoring, recovering and scrubbing for diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Cath Lab patients
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Basic Life Support
Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
