About The Position

The Stroke Program Clinical Specialist oversees the stroke process improvement and assists in supporting the database requirements to maintain certification. Assists with other duties of the stroke center as directed by the stroke program manager. This position involves up to 4 hours a week (or 8 hours every pay period) and can be done on evenings, weekends, or days during the week. This role is for the ED Unit, and ED experience is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • SCRN (Stroke Certified Registered Nurse), CNRN (Certified Neurological Registered Nurse) or ENLS (Emergency Neurological Life Support) within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • ED experience HIGHLY preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitors stroke patient hospital medical care to ensure compliance to evidence-based care and assists in the identification of any complications or deviation of care.
  • Interprets and evaluates data entered into GWTG to identify improvement opportunities with the stroke process improvement committee.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives utilizing evidence-based practice identified as improvement opportunities through GWTG data.
  • Serves as an educational resource by teaching and coaching stroke patients, families, and care team.
  • Participates in local and regional meetings.
  • Participates in Community Stroke focused events on an annual basis.
